When is the game coming out?

September 25, 2025!

Will you be releasing on console?

We do not have any information to share on this topic yet, as we remain fully focused on meeting our Early Access release.

How can I register to play early, and when is the next playtest?

The best way to stay notified is to join our Discord, as well as wishlisting and following us on Steam for all news updates. You will be able to get notifications about future playtests with these methods.

How many players can the game support?

Lost Rift supports up to 5 players in a single PvE Island and up to 15 players total in a PvPvE Expedition (with a maximum group size of 5).

How do camps work? Can my friends join my camp at any time?

Worlds are hosted and saved on our dedicated servers. When a player starts a new world, they can invite up to five friends to join them, with a maximum of five active players at any one time. When all players on an island have exited the game, after a short period, the dedicated server for that island will shut down. Any of the players who have been invited to the shared world can restart and rejoin the world at any time, as long as the maximum player limit has not been reached.

What is the primary focus, PVE or PVPVE?

Lost Rift is a game that blends PVE and PVPVE, and how you play is up to you. You can choose to focus on your PVE island – exploring, completing quests, and building your camp, or dive into high-stakes PVPVE Expeditions for rare loot. Some quests and recipes require items from both modes, so exploring both is rewarding. One of the most ideal ways to play is to team up with friends with whom you can collaborate to form an effective team. Half of the team can focus on building up the home base, and the other half can go on Expeditions to bring home PvP resources!

Will the game support PVE-only mode?

At the Early Access launch, the game will not support a PVE-only mode; however, we have heard the community’s feedback about this during playtests and are currently exploring options.

How is the game balanced for solo play?

Solo balance remains an area that we are currently iterating on, especially following feedback from our recent playtests. We recognize that solo play is inherently more difficult than being part of a 5-person team.
For PvE, we have a system that scales enemy numbers and difficulty for larger player groups.
For PvP, we have improved our matchmaking to pair smaller groups of players together, making it less likely for solo players to face a full squad.
We will continue to iterate with the community on the feasibility of solo PvP play as we work towards Early Access.

What is unique about Lost Rift in the survival space?

Lost Rift is more than just a survival game and more than just an extraction shooter. Lost Rift has two distinct speeds that you can approach the game in any way you like, combining a unique mix of cooperative PVE survival and the excitement of PVPVE Expeditions that you can’t find elsewhere. We also look forward to introducing our players to the unique world of Lost Rift, including the introduction of more key non-playable characters and further development of the unique story.

Who is the development team?

Lost Rift is being developed by a small and passionate team of developers from People Can Fly.

TECHNICAL

What are the game's minimum specs?

Minimum: NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB, AMD Radeon 5600-XT 8GB, Intel Arc 5 A580 8GB
Recommended: NVIDIA RTX 3070 8GB, AMD Radeon 7700-XT 12GB

Will you support FSR / DLSS / XESS?

Lost Rift will support FSR 4 and DLSS 4 at launch. We are not currently exploring support for XESS.

Will the servers have ping limits and or region locks?

Our initial plan is to use ping to select the best option for players creating new worlds and when matchmaking. However, since we allow players to invite their friends regardless of their location, we can’t enforce a strict ping limit. Finding the best way to match large groups of players into the most effective area is a complex topic that we will likely adjust when we can test at a large scale.

Do you intend to server wipe throughout Early Access?

Currently, we do not intend to wipe progress during the Early Access period. Our roadmap will be carefully considered to avoid introducing features or systems that would necessitate a wipe. That said, while in Early Access, we may need to revisit this question based on any issues players encounter and significant changes we wish to implement after receiving feedback from the community.

Can I transfer or migrate my characters and worlds to a new or different Steam account?

No, your account, characters, world, inventory, and progression are connected to your Steam account. You can have up to 5 characters and up to 3 worlds.

Can I use my character in another world? If so, what will I transfer with me?

Yes! You can use your character in any world, personal (created by you) or shared (created by someone else). Your character will take anything in their inventory with them.
