Rifters, today is the first Early Access Patch for Lost Rift! Patch 1 addresses the most common pain points our community has raised and focuses on making Lost Rift more rewarding, consistent, and enjoyable. Many of these changes come directly from your feedback, and our goal is simple: to make every expedition, survival encounter, and crafting session feel smoother, fairer, and more fun.

This patch delivers a balance overhaul to nearly every aspect of survival gameplay. Core systems like stamina, hydration, and crafting have been rebalanced, making food and resource management more meaningful. Salvaging and the furnace now yield more rewarding and logical outputs. Combat pacing has been tuned, with axes hitting harder, universally improved armor (damage reduction, durability, and cost), and healing kits applying faster for more intense combat encounters. Weapons have also had their durability rebalanced. Extraction gameplay has been made more dynamic and fair, with larger extraction zones, faster evacuation timers, focused loot themes, and improved extraction zone cover.

Patch Notes

Balance Changes

  • Full rebalance of consumables’ effect on stamina and hydration. In most cases, it has increased, and the role of food should be more apparent

  • Furnace and Salvage Station yield rebalanced

    • Higher rarity weapons and armor now yield more iron bars from the furnace

    • More bolts, nuts, and scraps are now required for a single ingot from the furnace

    • Increased yield of gun parts from higher-tier weapons in Salvage Station

    • Increased yield of various resources from the Salvage Station

  • Axe damage rebalance – axes and metal axes are now much more dangerous in melee combat:

    • Tree health has been updated as well to match axes’ increased damage

  • Armor damage reduction, durability, and cost rebalanced:

    • Durability of crafted and looted armor increased significantly

    • Durability of AI enemies’ armor lowered considerably

    • Damage reduction of basic hats increased

    • Damage reduction of Goat Helmet increased

  • Weapon durability rebalanced and standardized:

    • In most cases, durability was increased. However, in a few instances, durability was decreased, most notably with assault rifles

  • Repair costs have been rebalanced

  • First Aid Kit, Survival Kit, and Revival Kit healing time has been reduced to 2 seconds after application, to make them more useful

  • Revival Kit rarity changed from 5 (legendary) to 3 (rare)

  • Scientific Report 34 rarity changed from 4 (epic) to 3 (rare)

  • Wade’s trades have been fully rebalanced

    • Combat Crossbow and Metal Axe have been removed from her trades

  • Updated Sophie’s trades to accommodate the Revival Kit

  • Updated the Medical Station crafting recipe cost

  • Added new Salvage Station recipes:

    • Electronic Components → Wires

    • RFID → Electronic Components

    • Walkie-talkie → Electronic Components

    • CO Detector → Metal Scrap

    • Power Brick → Electrical Wires

    • Large Battery → Sulfuric Salt

  • Tree Sap is now more useful and part of more crafting recipes

  • Reduced the size of some healing items in the inventory

  • Metal Chests now unlock when obtaining iron ingots, instead of building the textile bench

  • Increased inventory size of Scrap Metal Chest and Sturdy Metal Chest

  • Increased inventory size of some Backpacks

  • Increased drop chance of decor items

  • Increased the drop chance of RFID from looting

  • Electrical Wires now drop in higher numbers when looting

  • Decreased the amount of bullets that can be found on killed Outcasts and in containers

  • Increased furnace melting time to 90 seconds

  • Lowered the iron ore to iron ingot ratio to 1:1

Extraction/PVP Changes

  • Extraction zone areas on Western Island have been increased to allow more opportunity for extracting players to extract successfully

  • Added additional cover around the Extraction zones

  • Decreased the extraction countdown to 7 seconds, allowing players to extract more quickly

  • Western Island will no longer have locked safes behind locked doors

  • Increased loot within locked rooms on Western Island

  • Loot on Western Island has been significantly rebalanced and more focused

    • Locked rooms will now focus on specific item types (example: a room may be entirely weapons and ammo chests in the room, or healing items, or general resources, but not a combination of all)

    • POIs are more focused on having natural or technological resources, based on the theme of the location

      • Removed utility boxes from Outcast camps

      • Removed Outcast chests in OpVic stations

  • Loot chests are now named to be distinguishable by what they contain

  • Fixed players being unable to spectate enemy players on Western Island when all teammates died. The player will now only be returned to the summary screen from the spectate screen if all players in the current expedition have extracted

AI

  • Outcasts are now less likely to shoot at downed players

  • Reduced the range in which Outcasts can hear footsteps and foliage rustling caused by the player

  • Reduced Hyena’s smell range from 50m to 10m

  • Outcast Marksman Boss’s rifles will now drop with a fixed durability

Building

  • Fixed a structure support issue that caused wooden Storage Chests to be deleted on server load

  • Storage chests can now be placed directly on walls

  • Camp Comfort values for decor have been adjusted for multiple items, allowing more of them to be placed, but with reduced individual bonuses

  • Fixed an issue with building that stopped wall pieces from being rotated

  • Fixed a support structure issue where player-built structures were not appropriately destroyed after all support had been destroyed

  • Added two new decor items: Baseball Trophy and Antique Globe

  • Updated the Framed Picture to be the same image in the inventory as it is when placed

  • Changed the crafting cost of the Rug to no longer require Treated Wood

Art

  • Updated firearm textures for pistols, rifles, and shotguns

  • Added new visuals for ammo boxes

  • Fixed the visual effects for Contaminated Outcasts

  • Fixed the hair shader for dead bodies and Outcasts

  • Visual polish to multiple clothing and armor items: Soldiers Helmet, Military Hat, Flat Brim Hat, Straw Hat, Plague Doctor Mask, Hunter’s Hat, Hipster Glasses, Rounded Glasses, Incognito Glasses, Star Glasses, Eyepatch

  • Added different types of Kebab meat (raw, cooked)

  • Updated the Revival Kit to a yellow to match UI icons

  • Made improvements to the character pose on the main menu

  • Corrected the Hunter’s Rags and Bruiser’s Shirt from having the wrong models

  • Corrected pants materials being incorrect for almost all pants in the game

  • Fixed Surinam Cherries from appearing wonky when on the ground

  • Removed a placeholder asset from Vlad’s trading options

Environment

  • Changed certain trees and the general environment to have improved hitboxes, particularly the large trees, which had hitboxes that were not accurate to their shape

  • Move the player spawn location to be on land by the dock, to prevent players from becoming stuck inside the dock

  • Added hidden keys around the Pioneers’ Landing (can you find them?) – look high and low!

  • Fixed a hole in the ground terrain in F4 near the cave on Pioneers’ Landing

  • Updated mines visuals

  • Fixed an issue where the player could see under the map while swimming

  • Fixed an area where the player was able to walk through rocks

  • Fixed multiple issues with Outcasts’ buildings placed on Western Island

  • Fixed an issue where loot drops could fall through the floor when harvesting hyenas at the entrance to the Hyena cave

  • Updated visibility in Fynn’s hideout so loot is more apparent

  • Removed non-interactable sticks from Pioneers’ Landing starting area

  • Fixed collision on some rocks on Pioneers’ Landing

  • Added proper collision to the green beam in the bunker

  • Fixed an issue where players could not vault over horizontal pillars

  • Fixed misplaced assets in the bunker near the Comms arena on Western Island

  • Fixed an invisible collision blocking the entrance of the cave near the plane crash on Pioneers’ Landing

  • Fixed a visual issue where a black rectangle was present on the tents on Western Island

  • Added a missing chopped asset to the leafy tree trunk

  • Improved the collision on the rock bridge leading to Port from Western Island C8

  • Fixed an issue where AI buildings would set themselves on fire, such as Western Village

  • Fixed an issue with waves appearing stretched near waterfalls

  • Fixed a floating tree stump on Western Island H5

  • Medical Chest in Harbor can no longer be reached without unlocking the door

  • Rocks on the beach now drop 1-3 stones instead of just one

Animation

  • Updated the medkit animation to include the first-person player reviving their teammate using a syringe

  • Fixed the revolver animation, which caused the player’s wrist to snap unnaturally during recoil

  • Updated Hyena movement animations

  • Fixed the Outcast Berserker running animation

  • Improved animation when eating food and then transitioning to idle

  • Fixed an issue where the shotgun animation was inaccurate, and loading additional ammo that was not counted by the game

Performance

  • Fixed a performance issue that occurred when building for an extended period of time

  • Fixed an issue where the torch effects would play in the world even when the torch was not equipped

  • Prevented some raid nests from activating when Survivors are not recruited

  • Fixed an issue where inactive raiders were not despawning as intended

Audio

  • Fixed an audio clipping issue that occurs when being shot in the helmet while in inventory

  • Improved audio performance on Pioneers’ Landing

  • Fixed an issue with crackling audio at the West Village Outpost on Western Island

  • Added and/or fixed aiming down sights sound effects for multiple weapons

  • Fixed footsteps sound effects failing to play after dying

  • Fixed outdoor ambient audio from being heard in the bunker

  • Removed some voice lines from Wade during active combat

  • Fixed the jumping sound effect not playing properly when heard from a teammate’s perspective

UI

  • Added a temporary fix to limit how many quest notifications can queue for a player (4 main and 4 side quests). This is to address players who are experiencing multiple quest completion messages while playing

  • Fixed an issue where the scrollbar failed to scroll when cycling while in Build Mode

  • Fixed the Hyena Hijinks quest from completing at the wrong location

  • Fixed an issue where side quests after Outcast Outpost stopped giving quest completed notifications

  • Fixed an issue with the “A Strange Place” quest not updating after interacting with the Communication tower

  • Fixed the outline remaining around an item when browsing through the inventory using a gamepad

  • Changed the “A New Threat” side quest to mention Gun Parts instead of Weapon Parts

  • Multiple translation fixes

Other Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where fall damage was ignored if the player jumped from an extremely tall height

  • Fixed an issue where some backpacks would get bigger when jumping.

  • Fixed an issue that caused the player to fly off ziplines and unintentionally kill themselves

  • Alpha Treebugs will now drop Treebug trophies as intended

  • Mango Jam now costs mango instead of mango jam

  • Alpha hyenas will now drop hyena trophies as intended

  • Increased the drop chance of the Ape trophy significantly

Misc

  • Added detection for falling through the ground. The game will now move the player to the nearest valid landscape location automatically

  • Addressed some cases of inventory loss when Expeditions are requested to shut down, such as during maintenance or some service interruptions

  • Addressed a disconnection on server load when camps contained a large number of chests/inventory items

  • Added alerts to the game to notify players of incoming maintenance events

  • Improved messaging when trying to join camps with players running a different version of the client

SteamDeck

  • Improve rendering performance for the SteamDeck

  • Fixed display issues while in Build mode on SteamDeck

  • Fixed multiple text display issues for the SteamDeck

  • Fixed the Journal flickering and resizing on SteamDeck
